Swire Properties Unveils "Two Queensway Bridge" Connecting
Pacific Place and Harcourt Garden

New footbridge to enhance connectivity and walkability in Admiralty

Swire Properties is pleased to announce the official opening of "Two Queensway Bridge", a new footbridge connecting Pacific Place with Harcourt Garden. Fully integrated with the existing pedestrian network, the footbridge extends to Harcourt Road and Tim Mei Avenue, providing easy access to the Admiralty MTR interchange hub, nearby government facilities and commercial buildings, significantly enhancing accessibility in the neighbourhood.

The introduction of Two Queensway Bridge also coincided with the renaming of the existing Pacific Place-Queensway Plaza Footbridge as "One Queensway Bridge", reflecting the expanded pedestrian network at Pacific Place, which has played a key role in transforming Admiralty into a business and leisure destination.

The Honourable Bernadette Linn, Secretary for Development, and Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties, officiated the opening ceremony. To mark the occasion, Swire Properties sponsored the non-profit organisation InspiringHK Sports Foundation to host a community event for 90 families from across Hong Kong. Participants engaged in a treasure hunt, exploring iconic landmarks in Admiralty including Pacific Place, Tamar Park, Hong Kong Park, and the Central and Western District Promenade.

Ms Bernadette Linn, Secretary for Development, said, "Two Queensway Bridge is more than just a pedestrian connection; it is a testament of how private sector and the Government work hand-in-hand to enhance connectivity and accessibility in urban development; and how good ideas can be turned into reality with innovative government policy. This project also set fine examples for the market in tapping on the scheme to provide more convenient and more direct links in various part of the urban area, bringing people closer together and better supporting the dynamic growth of our city."

Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties, said, "Enhancing connectivity is at the heart of our strategy to build vibrant and sustainable communities. We were delighted to collaborate with the HKSAR Government and key stakeholders in the community in the design, construction, and management of this new footbridge. As Admiralty continues to grow as a major business district in Hong Kong, Two Queensway Bridge will improve accessibility and promote walkability, ensuring that the whole community can enjoy the diverse range of facilities in the area."

First conceived by Swire Properties, the project gained momentum following the 2016 Policy Address, which encouraged private sector participation in building pedestrian links to provide safe, comfortable and convenient networks. The footbridge exemplifies Swire Properties' commitment to the long-term development of the neighbourhood. Open to the public around the clock, the footbridge provides direct access to nearby commercial buildings and government facilities, including the Tamar Government Complex and the Legislative Council Complex. Together with One Queensway Bridge, the expanded footbridge network will accommodate the increasing foot traffic driven by Admiralty's expanded MTR network and the growing workforce.

The footbridge's design prioritises sustainability and inclusivity, with features such as natural ventilation, energy-efficient skylight windows and lightweight steel construction to minimise visual and environmental impact. Planters along the walkway create a pleasant walking experience while the footbridge offers lift connections, ensuring accessibility to all members of the public.
