(Rome, 1 August 2024) WINDTRE has completed the acquisition of OpNet, Europe's first operator to have developed a national Stand Alone 5G network and to have launched services with this technology for the Wholesale market in Italy.

"OpNet's customers will continue to enjoy the same attention and care they have received thus far, and we are confident that we will further increase their levels of satisfaction," says Benoit Hanssen, co-CEO of WINDTRE. "The company will continue to operate under the OpNet brand and the commercial structure dedicated to wholesale customers, just as it has in the past."

The acquisition of OpNet will allow WINDTRE to offer even more reliable 5G and FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) services, and to develop even more innovative technological solutions for the digitalisation of businesses and public administrations.

The transaction involved 100% of a company in which OpNet had allotted the relative business unit, as well as the property and assets held directly by OpNet, including those of a business development nature, excluding Tessellis S.p.A. and the other companies in which OpNet holds a controlling stake or equity investments.
