In response to media enquiries, Cathay Pacific Airways would like to confirm that its aircraft travelling between Hong Kong and Europe operate through Chinese and Russian airspace and do not fly over Afghanistan. Its services to the Middle East destinations of Dubai and Bahrain fly directly over the sea and avoid any sensitive airspace. All of these flights operate on recognised civil aviation routes.
Safety is always Cathay Pacific's first priority and the airline will make alternative arrangements for its passengers if future developments were to affect its operations. The airline will always do all it can to minimise any inconvenience to passengers.
