In China's Shandong province, Shandong Huaneng Power Development delivers coal-generated power to the people. Three state-owned companies -- Huaneng Power Generation, Shandong International Trust and Investment, and Shandong Power Company -- own a majority of the company. Shandong Huaneng owns majority interests in the Dezhou, Jining, and Weihai coal-fired generator plants, which have a total generating capacity of 2.1 MW. The company is subject to the regulation of the Ministry of Electric Power and the Shandong Power Bureau, and is operated and managed by the National Electric Power Company. In 1998 the company received approval to complete two more plants by 2003.
