Corporate Profile

Marshall Edwards Inc. (MEI) is a pharmaceutical company with a primary focus on oncology drugs. MEI has been granted by Novogen Limited the exclusive licence to develop, market and distribute the anti-cancer drug phenoxodiol.

Phenoxodiol belongs to a class of drug referred to as Multiple Signal Transduction Regulators. Signal transduction refers to the means by which cells respond to chemical signals that reach them via the bloodstream. These signals regulate such vital functions as the growth and survival of the cell. It is now thought that malfunctions in key components of the signal transduction process are fundamental to degenerative diseases such as cancer.

Treatment of cancer patients with phenoxodiol has already resulted in the stablisation of a variety of cancers in a number of patients. MEI will complete the Phase Ib/IIa clinical trials for phenoxodiol that are currently underway in American and Australian hospitals. MEI will then commence Phase IIb trials for the drug.

MEI has the strategic intent to commercialise phenoxodiol via a strategic partnership with an established pharmaceutical company.

In addition to the licence covering phenoxodiol, MEI holds an option granting it the first and last right to license any other anti-cancer drug that may be developed by Novogen.

Following its listing MEI is majority owned by Novogen.
