From 1 June 2001, nine airlines operating at Changi Airport's Terminal 1 will be able to offer their passengers more check-in options, by telephone, fax and internet. This service, provided by the airlines' handling agent, Singapore Airport Terminal Services Limited (SATS), will be a boon to sophisticated travellers who have come to expect greater flexibility and choice, even when checking in for their flights.
The nine airlines that have opted to offer this service to their passengers are Air China, Air Niugini, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, EgyptAir, EVA Air, Pakistan International Airlines, United Airlines and Vietnam Airlines.
Departing passengers of these airlines with confirmed bookings need only call an easy to remember number - CHECK-00 or 2432500 - to be connected to the SATS check-in agent. The agent will prompt the passenger for the relevant travel details before assigning a seat of his/her preference. The fax check-in number is CHECK-11 or 2432511 and the fax check-in forms may be downloaded from the SATS website www.sats.com.sg. Passengers may also submit their travel details through the internet by completing a check-in template available on the website. Confirmation by SATS will be via e-mail.
Passengers may check-in by telephone, fax or internet at least 10 hours ahead of the flights' scheduled departure time, depending on the respective airline. They then have the luxury of showing up at the airport as late as 45 minutes before the flight, for verification of travel documents, to check-in their bags and obtain their boarding passes at specially assigned check-in counters.
The facility will allow passengers peace of mind knowing that they have already checked-in and obtained their seats even before arriving at the airport - truly stress-free travel beginning on the ground! More details are available from the SATS website, from 1 June 2001.
