Multiple award-winning ground handler, Singapore Airport Terminal Services Group (SATS), signed a long-term contract today with Evergreen International Airlines, one of the world's largest air cargo airlines. The Oregon-based carrier startes twice weekly B747-Freighter scheduled operations into Singapore Changi Airport today. It is expected to increase the frequency to three times a week from 1 June 2000.
SATS will provide ramp handling, cargo handling, flight operations, crew administration and engineering services to its 48th customer. The signing of the long term contract is testimony to the confidence in SATS by Evergreen.
At Changi Airport, SATS operates give airfreight terminals and one express courier centre, with a combined annual handling capacity of 1.3 million tonnes of cargo. Its airfreight facilities are among the most modern in the world with state-of-the-art technology and a fully mechanised material handling system.
For future growth in the airfreight industry, SATS has started construction of its sixth airfreight terminal and second express courier centre. These facilities are expected to be operational by the first and third quarters of 2001, respectively.
