ROBERT RILEY TO STEP DOWN AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF MANDARIN ORIENTAL

27th May 1998 - Mandarin Oriental International Limited today announced that Mr Robert E Riley is to step down as Chief Executive Officer. Mr Riley will leave the Group in the autumn to take up a new position in Australia.

"Robert Riley has made a significant contribution to the development of the Mandarin Oriental Group over the past ten years," said Alasdair Morrison, Managing Director. "He has overseen the expansion of the Group while building its status as an industry leader with a reputation for outstanding service and quality management. While we regret his decision to leave the Group, we wish him every success in his new career."

A further announcement as to a new chief executive will be made at a later date.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is an international hotel investment and management group operating 12 deluxe and first class hotels worldwide, with two hotels under development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Miami, Florida. The Group has equity interests in all but one of its properties and net assets of approximately US$1 billion. In total Mandarin Oriental employs 6,100 staff in 12 countries. The growth strategy of the Group is to expand its base of deluxe hotels in Asia and to seek selective opportunities in other international locations.
