PERCY WEATHERALL APPOINTED JARDINE MATHESON
MANAGING DIRECTOR

28th February 2000 -- Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited announced today that Alasdair Morrison, Managing Director of Jardine Matheson, is leaving his post after six years. He has today been succeeded by Percy Weatherall, chief executive of Hongkong Land.

Henry Keswick, Chairman of Jardine Matheson, said: "Alasdair Morrison has been with the Group for nearly thirty years, including six as Managing Director. That we have come through Asia's financial crisis in such good order is due in large measure to Alasdair's skilful and dedicated management. He leaves the Group well positioned to take advantage of the next phase of Asia's recovery. We thank him and wish him well."

Alasdair Morrison said, "I am grateful to my colleagues for their support, and thank all the Group's employees for their loyalty and hard work."

Percy Weatherall has been with the Jardine Matheson Group for 23 years and has held a number of senior positions with Group companies around the world, including the past six years as chief executive of Hongkong Land, one of the Group's largest operating companies. He has been a director of Jardine Matheson since January 1999.
