DAIRY FARM GROUP ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES

17th June 1996 - Mr Graeme Seabrook, Managing Director of Dairy Farm International Holdings Limited (DFI), today announced a number of changes in the Group's management team.

Mr Chris Nelson, currently Chief Executive for Asia, has expressed a wish to return to Europe. He will move from Asia in September, and in April 1997 will assume the new position of Regional Director - Europe. Concurrent with Mr Nelson's move, the group's Chief Financial Officer, Mr Tim Westinghouse, is to assume a new role as Director - Dairy Farm Asia.

The Company's new Finance Director will be Mr Edouard Ettedgui, who has extensive international experience in both financial and general management. He will join the DFI Board on 5th August 1996. Mr Ettedgui is currently Business Development Director of British American Tobacco Holdings, a subsidiary of BAT Industries Plc.

In his new role, Mr Nelson will be responsible for DFI's Spanish subsidiary, Simago, and will act as the liaison with DFI's joint venture partners based in Europe. Mr Westinghouse will be responsible for finance, personnel and MIS functions in the nine Asian countries in which the Group operates. He also will assume general management responsibility for liaison with Dairy Farm's Asian associates, including Maxim's and Nestlé Dairy Farm. Both Mr Westinghouse and Mr Nelson will remain as Directors of Dairy Farm International Holdings Limited.

Mr Nelson's departure from Asia after 11 years of achievement in senior management was foreshadowed by other management appointments announced last September. They were Gene Auerbach, Regional Director for Hong Kong and South China; Colin Buchanan, Development Director for South Asia; Michael Kok, Regional Supermarket Director for South Asia; and Glenn McDowall, Regional Director for North Asia. All four will now report directly to Mr Seabrook.

Describing the new structure, Mr Seabrook said, "In recent months we have announced appointments which significantly strengthen DFI's management in its three principal operational areas - Asia, Australasia and Europe. This new team will play an important role in the future of the Group."

Dairy Farm International operates 40 retail businesses across five different formats, including supermarkets, drugstores and convenience stores. 1995 sales (including assocaites) were some US$11.7 billion. Its 2,760 stroes in 12 countries serve some 22 million people a week. In addition, DFI has major restaurant and dairy manufacturing investments in Hong Kong and China.
