(7th December 2005, Hong Kong) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) announced today its tonnage throughput for November 2005. A total of 226,314 tonnes of air cargo were handled in November 2005, representing a year-on-year growth of 7.5%. Cumulative tonnage for the period January to November 2005 was 2,210,308 tonnes, up 7.2% year-on-year.
A monthly record of 135,774 tonnes of export volume was achieved in November 2005, up 6.4% against the same month last year. Cumulative export tonnage for the first eleven months of the year registered a year-on-year growth of 8.1% to 1,252,952 tonnes. Year-on-year import growth rebounded to 6.3% in November after consecutive months' of marginal growth, with a total of 57,979 tonnes of import cargo being handled. Cumulative import volume month-to-date was 610,451 tonnes, down 3.5% against the same period last year. Year-on-year growth in the transshipment sector remained strong : 15.3% for November and 28.1% for the period January to November. Total transshipment volume was 32,561 tonnes for November and 346,905 tonnes for the first eleven months of the year.
