(8th August 2005, Hong Kong) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) announced today its air cargo tonnage throughput for July 2005. A total of 207,287 tonnes were handled in the month, an increase of 12.2% compared with the same month last year. Cumulative tonnage from January to July 2005 was 1,335,911 tonnes, up 6.5% compared with the same period last year.
Export volume in July 2005 registered a 14.9% growth on a year-on-year basis to 116,354 tonnes. Aggregate export volume for the first seven months of 2005 was 745,622 tonnes, representing a year-on-year growth of 8.7%. The import volume fell 2.7% year-on-year to 58,302 tonnes in July. The total import tonnage for the period of January to July 2005 was 380,579 tonnes, down 7.1% year-on-year.
The growth momentum in transshipment sector was sustained in July. Transshipment volume for July and the first seven months of 2005 was 32,631 tonnes and 209,710 tonnes, representing a year-on-year increase of 38.4% and 32.8% for the respective periods.
The import, export and transshipment tonnage handled in July 2005 and the cumulative figures for January to July 2005 are tabulated as below:
