Hactl Announces May Tonnage Throughput

(7th June 2005, Hong Kong) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) announced today that its tonnage throughput for May 2005 was 192,905 tonnes, representing a year-on-year growth of 5.2%. Cumulative tonnage from January to May 2005 was 930,422 tonnes, up 4.9% against the same period last year.

Export volume grew 7.8% year-on-year in May, with a total of 106,325 tonnes being handled. Aggregate export volume for the first five months was 518,069 tonnes, up 6.7% compared with the same period last year. Import volume for May and for the first five months was 55,598 tonnes and 265,716 tonnes respectively, down 10.3% and 7.9% year-on-year for the respective periods. The transshipment sector continued its strong growth, with volume up 36.5% and 30.4% respectively for May and for the period January to May.
