(8th December 2004, Hong Kong) Hactl's total tonnage for the first eleven months of 2004 has surpassed the yearly record of 2,010,014 tonnes achieved last year. A total of 2,062,065 tonnes were handled in the period January to November 2004, up 13.2% compared with the figure for the period January to November 2003. A new export volume record was also achieved - a total of 1,159,010 tonnes of export cargo were handled in the period January to November, outperforming last year's total of 1,094,031 tonnes. In the import sector, a total of 632,320 tonnes were handled in the first eleven months, up 7.5% year-on-year.
"We are happy to have achieved new tonnage records when there is still a month to go before the year ends," said Warren Bishop, Hactl's Marketing Director. "The sustained volume growth in this year reflects the strength of Hong Kong International Airport as a cargo hub," said Mr. Bishop.
The summary of the import, export and transshipment volumes handled in November and cumulative figures from January to November 2004 are tabulated below :
