Hactl Reports Continued Tonnage Growth in July 2004

(6th August 2004, Hong Kong) Cargo volume handled by Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) showed continued growth in July and in the first seven months of 2004. The Company handled a total of 184,750 tonnes in July 2004 - an increase of 15.5% compared with the same month last year. Cumulative tonnage for the first seven months of the year was 1,253,913 tonnes, up 16.2% year-on-year.

Export volume in July 2004 registered a 17.6% growth on a year-on-year basis to 101,273 tonnes. Aggregate export volume for the first seven months of 2004 was 686,209 tonnes, representing a year-on-year growth of 21.0%. Import volume grew 12.6% year-on-year to 59,892 tonnes in July 2004, while the total import tonnage for the period of January to July 2004 was 409,831 tonnes, up 12.7% year-on-year.

The import, export and transshipment tonnage handled in July 2004 and the cumulative figures for January to July 2004 are tabulated as below :
