Hactl launches extended intermodal service to Huangpu under its SuperLink China Direct service

(Hong Kong : 15 April 2002) Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited today announced service extension of its SuperLink China Direct intermodal service by adding Guangzhou Huangpu to its expanding portfolio. The extended service, which offers seamless air-road intermodal transport link between Hong Kong and the Guangzhou Economic & Technological Development District in Huangpu, provides connectivity for international air cargoes with Huangpu via the Hong Kong hub.

Operated by Hactl's subsidiary Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services Limited (Hacis), the service extension to Huangpu commences operations today and provides scheduled consolidated sealed truck service between Hactl's SuperTerminal 1 and the Guangzhou Economic & Technological Development District in Huangpu. In parallel to SuperLink China Direct operations in other service points in China, the service also features simplified customs clearance at Hactl, obviating the need to conduct customs clearance when crossing the Hong-Kong China border at Huangang.

"The new Huangpu service will provide extended coverage in the Pearl River Delta in addition to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Shenzhen Baoan International Airport and Donguan Taiping. The Guangzhou Economic & Technological Development District, one of the first state-level development districts approved by the State Council, is home to over 380 industrial plants of many multinational corporations. The Huangpu service is strategically developed to streamline the supply chain between Hong Kong and the fast-growing industrial base," said Summit Chan, Managing Director of Hacis. Chan indicated that the District is directly connected to the Guangzhou Free Trade Zone, in which customers can take full advantage of the "free trade zone" characteristics of the bonded warehouse in the zone.

"With the implementation later this year an integrated GPS/e-seal system and HEx - an e-logistics platform to facilitate intermodal services, customers can further benefit from on-line real-time cargo tracking of SuperLink China Direct consignments. SuperLink China Direct has been held in high regard by the airfreight community as an efficient and secured logistics solution to China since its launch. We will further expand the service network in China with value-added service features to enhance connectivity between Hong Kong International Airport and the catchment areas," Summit Chan concluded.
