Hong Kong, 15th November 2001 - Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd (Hactl) today announced service extension to Dongguan for its SuperLink China Direct, a unique intermodal service product that provides an efficient, secured, time-definite, and information-enabled means of through transport to China.
The service extension to Dongguan, which commences from November 23rd, 2001, will be operated by Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services Limited (Hacis), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hactl.
"SuperLink China Direct is part of Hacis's development focus to provide a comprehensive network of intermodal transport connectivity of international air cargoes with China, streamlining inefficiencies in the traditional supply chain," said Summit Chan, Managing Director of Hacis.
Through SuperLink China Direct, Hacis offers three main types of service to airlines and freight forwarders:
In parallel to the Guangzhou service, the new Dongguan service also features simplified customs clearance at Hactl, obviating the need to do so again crossing the Chinese border. It will provide two-way daily scheduled consolidated sealed truck service between Hactl's SuperTerminal1 and Taiping in Dongguan. Hacis will also arrange customs clearance and local door delivery directly to consignees in Dongguan on request. These services are complemented by Hactl's enhanced features via its computerised system, COSAC (Community System for Air Cargo). Customers can get updated cargo status through COSAC, hactl.com, as well as through HACTEL - an automated telephone enquiry service. COSAC also has an automatic notification function that informs registered consignees of the shipment arrival details by fax or email.
"Dongguan is a key manufacturing powerhouse and we are pleased to add it to our service portfolio. We hope that SuperLink China Direct can assist manufacturers to bring their materials in and products out to markets in a more efficient manner via Hong Kong's air cargo network," added Summit Chan. "We are fully committed to the development of an integrated intermodal transport solution to the Pearl River Delta for the air cargo community. We will likely add Shenzhen as a service point by the end of the year and two other locations in south China within the first quarter of 2002, as soon as we secure consent from various customs jurisdictions in China. Our objective is to enhance Hong Kong's position as the leading international air cargo hub and gateway to China," concludes Mr. Chan.
