SHKP appoints Eric Li non-executive director and
Richard Wong independent non-executive director

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) announced today (May 11) that it has appointed Eric Li Ka-cheung as a non-executive director and Richard Wong Yue-chim as an independent non-executive director. Both appointments are effective immediately.

SHKP Chairman & Chief Executive Walter Kwok welcomed Dr Li and Professor Wong to the board, saying: "Dr Li has extensive experience in finance and accounting. He has contributed a lot in the community by being active in civic affairs and holding various public posts. Professor Wong has studied many different aspects of Hong Kong and mainland economic policies and produced greater understanding of the various areas, which has helped integrate the two economies. I am confident that their professional knowledge, rich experience and remarkable vision will be beneficial to SHKP's future development."

Dr Li is the senior partner in Li, Tang, Chen & Company, a well-established firm of certified public accountants in Hong Kong. He was elected president of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA - formerly the Hong Kong Society of Accountants) in 1993. He was named the first 'Accountant of the Year' by the HKICPA in 1993 and received the first 'International Accountant Award' from the Association of International Accountants in 2002. He is currently a board member of the International Federation of Accountants.

He was a member of Hong Kong's Legislative Council from 1991 to 2004 and Chairman of its Public Accounts Committee from 1995 to 2004. Dr. Li is on numerous government advisory boards and committees, and is currently chairman of the Process Review Committee for the oversight of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority designated system under the Clearing and Settlement Systems Ordinance. He is a member of the Clearing and Settlement Systems Appeals Tribunal, the Deposit-taking Companies Advisory Committee, Basel II Consultation Group, Inland Revenue Department's Users' Committee and Professional Services Development Assistance Scheme. He was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2003.

Dr Li also serves as a court member, trustee, advisor and adjunct professor with several local and overseas universities. He is concurrently an independent non-executive director of a number of publicly-listed companies including Kowloon Motor Bus and Hang Seng Bank.

Professor Wong is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor of The University of Hong Kong. He has been active in advancing economic research on policy issues in Hong Kong and the mainland through his work as founding director of both the Hong Kong Centre for Economic Research and Hong Kong Institute of Economics and Business Strategy. He was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star in 1999 for his contributions in education, housing industry and technology development.

Professor Wong is a member of the board of the KCRC and an independent non-executive director of several publicly-listed companies, including Great Eagle Holdings.
