Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has been voted 'Best Company in Hong Kong' and 'Best Property Company in Asia' in a 2002 poll conducted by Euromoney, a leading international financial magazine. SHKP secured the top spot in both categories for the second year running, underlining its consistently strong track record.
In the poll, Euromoney surveyed bankers and analysts in Asia, asking them to rank companies according to market strength, profitability, growth potential, quality of management and earnings. SHKP scored highly and was named Best Company in Hong Kong and Best Property Company in Asia, for the second consecutive year.
Euromoney says that in the depressed property market and tough business environment, SHKP stands out for its innovative strategies and the introduction of new features to enhance the value of its properties. Analysts in the poll praised SHKP's excellent investor relations department, saying that it is highly responsive to enquiries. SHKP's consistent corporate strategy and strong operating performance put it ahead of the rest.
SHKP Vice Chairman and Managing Director Raymond Kwok said the company has been striving to upgrade the quality of its properties and services and establish a powerful brand. In recent years, market competition has been intense, and SHKP has continued to strengthen its market edge through innovation and increased competitiveness. Recently the government devised a comprehensive and clear housing policy, which has helped restore Hong Kong people's confidence in the property market. SHKP has enormous scope for growth in the local market, and will grasp opportunities on the Mainland at the appropriate time, so its future business growth moves steadily forward.
Mr Kwok also said that SHKP would maintain its excellent standards of management and strict corporate governance, to ensure that every aspect of its business follows best practices.
