SHKP donation helps nurture top students
Sponsorship for Yuen Long students to attend US Presidential Classroom

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) constantly supports the development of quality education. The company began the Northwest New Territories Elite Students Programme, and has given 12 Yuen Long and Tuen Mun primary and secondary schools added funds to offer extra-curricular courses and raise standards. This year, for the first time, SHKP is sponsoring two top students from the northwest New Territories to attend the US Presidential Classroom in Washington DC. The students will attend lectures by prominent people in politics and economics, as well as a session of Congress.

Alfred So, Executive Director of the Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency, said that SHKP cares about premium developments and customers' quality of life, and at the same time, it also fosters educational development. This is why it started the Northwest New Territories Elite Students Programme, donating money to schools so they can offer a variety of courses or purchase educational equipment to nurture the next leaders of society. The schools in the programme have performed very well in public examinations in recent years, with some secondary schools seeing as high as 90% of their students become eligible for university and students with eight or nine As in the HKCEE. The students also perform very well in extra-curricular activities, winning various Hong Kong awards. SHKP is proud to contribute to these achievements.

This summer, SHKP will sponsor two top students from the New Territories to attend the Presidential Classroom in Washington, USA. The students are Priscilla Lam from Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School and Ronald Lam from Shung Tak Catholic English College, both in Yuen Long. Each student passed a rigorous selection process, beating out many other talented students to win the opportunity to attend this internationally-known summer course. They will take part in the Future World Leaders Summit, with lessons held on Capital Hill. The students will also visit the US Supreme Court and have the chance to meet Senators and other US Government officials.
