Financial Intelligence Asia (FIA), a leading regional financial publication, recently conducted a poll of the best corporate web sites in the Asia-Pacific region, and Sun Hung Kai Properties' site: 'www.shkp.com.hk' got the highest ranking of any property developer.

FIA invited about 200 analysts and investors to rank corporate sites according to pre-defined criteria, with shkp.com.hk scoring highly on almost all counts. The SHKP site rated very well, coming in the top three for 'Frequency of financial information updates', 'Design', 'Level of news', 'Interactivity' and 'Search capabilities'.

SHKP is very gratified at the recognition. Raymond Kwok, the company's Vice Chairman and Managing Director, said that since SHKP created its web site in 1996 the principal aims have been to enhance corporate transparency and speed up two-way communication with investors and customers.

Mr Kwok highlighted the fact that SHKP's annual and interim results are posted on the Internet within one hour of the directors' meeting where they are approved, and analysts are notified by e-mail once the results are available. The full version of the latest annual report can also be downloaded from the web site, so shareholders don't have to wait for a copy by post. And, when press releases are issued to the media, they are posted on the site within ten minutes.

To improve communications with homebuyers, the site has virtual show flats offering 360-degree interior views and on-line sales brochures, and web cameras are also set up at sites under development so people can see the sweeping views from the properties over the Internet, 24-hours a day. All these measures allow the company to reach far more potential buyers without greatly increasing costs for TV and print advertising.
