SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation Scholarships for talented mainland students
Shanghai Jiao Tong University expresses appreciation during recent visit
A delegation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was recently in Hong Kong to thank the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation and Foundation Executive Director and SJTU Honorary Trustee Amy Kwok for the support and contributions over the years. The delegation was led by University Council Chairperson Professor Ma Dexiu. The Foundation provides scholarships for talented mainland students with limited means.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the oldest universities in China, going back 116 years. The university is a leading institute for training top engineers who contribute to the nation's economic and scientific development. The Foundation has been offering scholarships that allow outstanding students to complete four-year degrees at the university since 2007. Nearly 500 students would benefit from the scholarships worth RMB6 million.
Professor Ma talked about the university's latest development, research achievement and future plans, as well as Shanghai's recent economic situation. She also extended her thanks to the Foundation for promoting continuous development of the university.
Amy Kwok said: "As an honorary trustee of SJTU, I am very pleased with the university's development and progress. It has earned a top reputation in engineering training on the mainland, with graduates looking toward a promising future. I hope the students put their knowledge to good use and contribute to the nation's development. The Foundation will continue its support for the education of talented individuals."
About the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation
The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation was set up in 2002 to run scholarship programmes at prestigious mainland institutions including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Sichuan University, Tongji University, and etc, as well as the Education Bureau of Zhongshan and other cities. It also offers scholarships for mainland students to study at renowned universities overseas, including University of Cambridge, Stanford University and Yale University. More than RMB 300 million has been granted to over 5,000 mainland students so far.
