SHKP's first large integrated development in Suzhou
Building a new iconic business centre

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) held a groundbreaking ceremony today (January 15) for its first large integrated development in Suzhou. The project is located on the east bank CBD of Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park. SHKP Vice Chairman and Managing Director Raymond Kwok, Deputy Secretary and Governor of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee cum Mayor of Suzhou Municipal Government Yan Li, Deputy Director of Suzhou Municipal People's Congress Cheng Hui Ming, Vice Chairman of Suzhou CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) Zhou Ren Yan, General Secretary of Suzhou Municipal Government Tao Sunxian, Director of Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee Yang Zhiping and other officials attended the ceremony to witness the start of this major project, which is SHKP's first project in Suzhou and a new milestone in the developer's mainland portfolio.

The development is on a 240,000-square-foot-plus (22,000 square metres) site, east of the Round-Jinji-Lake Commercial Zone and north of Cui Yuan Road and the Metro Line 1 under construction. It will comprise a 310-metre tower, a retail podium and a connecting landscaped plaza, offering grade-A offices, a luxury shopping mall and high-end serviced apartments.

The development will be a modern integrated complex with world-class standards comparable to SHKP's International Finance Centre and International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong - thanks to SHKP's experience and vision in developing large commercial projects. On completion, the office tower will promise to lure large financial firms and is expected to become a catalyst in transforming Suzhou Industrial Park into a top financial hub. The shopping mall will boast an array of top international retailers, many new to Suzhou, bringing new life to shopping in the city and Changjiang River Delta. The serviced apartments will offer SHKP's attentive management and a quality living environment for discerning executives and professionals.

Director of Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee Yang Zhiping said: "We are honoured to have SHKP invest in our Industrial Park. SHKP is experienced in building international landmarks and highly trusted for quality. I believe that upon completion the development will be a new icon in the city and help upgrade our commercial and retail industries. It will cement the status of the Round-Jinji-Lake commercial zone as a modern financial centre."

SHKP has built a recognized name for quality with its commitment to building world-class properties, and the Suzhou project will be another example. Overall design of the project is inspired by a fountain. With a streamlined exterior, the tower will stand on the terraced garden of the retail podium, resembling a geyser in the middle of a fountain. The development will add a new dimension to Suzhou's skyline.

SHKP gives priority to public green space in developments. On the west of the Suzhou project will be a landscaped plaza that rises in terraces to connect the podium and echo the fountain and water theme. It will be a wonderful urban green space, noticeable from all over the city.

SHKP is optimistic about the long-term prospects for the mainland's economic and property development, and it has entered the markets in major mainland cities in recent years. It has three projects in Suzhou. In addition to this project, a high-end villa and a deluxe hotel projects are being planned by Jinji Lake. Sun Hung Kai Development (China) Director and General Manager - Business Development Andrew Zhou said: "SHKP has many years of experience with premium developments, building landmark properties and offering people quality living environments. Thjs Suzhou project, enjoying the ideal environment of Suzhou Industrial Park, is a milestone for SHKP. We will deliver the finest construction and service in the project as it plays a role in the city's development."
