Operation 5+2 at Ma Wan Park Noah's Ark spreads love and cheer

Ma Wan Park Noah's Ark promotes love of life, family and nature. It began Operation 5+2 to enable individuals and organizations to show care for people in need by sponsoring the less fortunate in activities at Noah's Ark. The Ark hopes the community will support this campaign, which will benefit over 10,000 people in the coming year.

Encouraging public support

A group of bereaved children of cancer victims in the EQ Student Ambassador programme and their families recently visited Noah's Ark as the first to benefit from Operation 5+2. Hospital Authority Chairman Anthony Wu, Ma Wan Park Advisory Committee member Eric Li and Project Director Spencer Lu were there to comfort the children at the outset of the campaign promoting love and care.

Ma Wan Park Project Director Spencer Lu said: "We hope to make Noah's Ark a platform for organizations and individuals to do something for the community. With small donations, one can help low-income families, new immigrants, seniors and the disabled and mentally handicapped have a wonderful time in educational and interesting activities at the Ark. As per the meaning of ¡¥Five Loaves and Two Fish', even the smallest contribution can benefit society if you really care."

Promoting love and harmony

The Ark has worked with welfare groups to give free tours for the underprivileged since it opened. It and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service invited over 6,000 of the less fortunate to visit and participate in a special programme early this year. Noah's Ark continues to hold volunteer activities to let caring people help others in need.

Operation 5+2 is being staged by Ma Wan Park Noah's Ark and its operators the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong, Angela Luk's Education Foundation, St James' Settlement, the Hong Kong Boys' Brigade and Media Evangelism.
