Li & Fung appoints two new directors

Hong Kong, 9 May 2001 - Li & Fung Limited [SEHK: 494], the Hong Kong-based global export trading firm, has appointed Mr Bruce Rockowitz as an executive director and Mr Makoto Yasuda as a non-executive director, both effective 10 May 2001.

Mr William Fung, Group Managing Director of Li & Fung Limited, commented, "On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to welcome Mr Rockowitz and Mr Yasuda on board. The additions will bring invaluable experience and help the Company's global development, especially given Mr Yasuda's strong business background in Japan, and Mr Rockowitz's experience in the industry."

Mr Bruce Rockowitz, aged 42, heads the Colby International division of Li & Fung Limited, and joined the Company through the acquisition of Colby Group Holdings Limited in December 2000. Mr Rockowitz joined Colby in 1981 as Vice President in charge of merchandising and was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of the group in 1986. Since then, he has been responsible for the growth and development as well as day-to-day operation of Colby. Mr Rockowitz has over 20 years of experience in the supply chain management of apparel and consumer hardgoods for markets worldwide.

Mr Makoto Yasuda, aged 63, is Chairman and Chief Executive of international advisory firm Yasuda and Pama Limited, which is a joint venture of PAMA Group Inc. (previously known as Prudential Asset Management Asia Limited). Mr Yasuda has been engaged in private equity investment and management activities in Asia for more than 30 years. He is well experienced in cross-border corporate advisory, merger & acquisition, project development, and other merchant banking activities. Currently, Mr Yasuda sits on the board of several companies, including Yamatake Corporation, Atlas Copco K K, Dodwell Japan, and Vektor Japan Limited. He is also an advisor to HSBC Japan and Ventana.
