Hysan Place has won the 2014 VIVA (Vision, Innovation, Value and Achievement) "Best-of-the-Best" Award for Sustainable Design and Development, as organized by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). The trendiest shopping destination in the heart of Causeway Bay is one of only five 2014 winners of this global shopping centre industry's premier awards competition.
Located at arguably the mid-point of Hong Kong island's bustling northern shore, and with direct access to the MTR station, Hysan Place showcases a remarkable selection of nearly 120 most sought-after international and local brand stores, spanning over 17 floors. A huge central skylight, together with generous high ceilings, open shop fronts and the 4th floor Sky Garden with lush greenery, also help make shopping in the mall an unrivalled experience. The rooftop of Hysan Place is an urban farm which promotes organic farming in a city setting. Regular visits and farming sessions are conducted at the farm for community groups and school children, including those with intellectual disabilities. The building also houses an experimental wetland, which is designed to help recycle grey water generated in office floors of the building, and is anticipated to be in full operation later this year.
Hysan Place and its sustainability features were awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standard (LEED) Platinum certification for Core and Shell by the United States Green Building Council, and is the first mixed-use office and vertical mall complex in Greater China to be so awarded. It also received the highest Platinum certification by Hong Kong's BEAM Plus standard for new buildings. Last year, it was also named a winner in the Urban Land Institute's Global Awards for Excellence, which honours developmental efforts based on factors ranging from good design, leadership, environmental protection, to response to societal needs and financial success.
