Hysan Place Wins Top International Property Development Award
Hysan Place, Hong Kong's most sustainable commercial building, has been named a 2013 winner in the Urban Land Institute's (ULI) Global Awards for Excellence. Widely known as the property development industry's most prestigious awards programme, the Awards recognize superior development efforts based on good design, leadership, contribution to the community, innovations, public/private partnerships, environmental protections and enhancement, response to societal needs, and financial success.
Located in the heart of perhaps Hong Kong's best-known commercial districts Causeway Bay, Hysan Place comprises 15 levels of Grade A office space and 17 floors of retail outlets. Significant for Hysan's retail portfolio, it represents an increase of 50% by gross floor area, bringing in a more diversified tenant mix with anchor tenants that are internationally renowned but new to either Hong Kong or Causeway Bay.
On the office side, the full harbor view offices is now home to top international tenants including those from the financial services, professional, technology and high-end retail sectors. Beyond its commercial successes, Hysan Place and its sustainability features were awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standard (LEED) Platinum certification for Core and Shell by the United States Green Building Council, and is the first mixed-use office and vertical mall complex in Greater China to be so awarded. It also received the highest Platinum certification by Hong Kong's BEAM Plus standard for new buildings.

Causeway Bay is our home base, and we really appreciate the judges' recognition of our wish to meet the corporate mission while demonstrating a genuine care for the environment, the community and the people who see, visit, use or work in the complex," said Mr. Siu-Chuen Lau, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hysan.
In its 35th year, the ULI Awards programme is the centerpiece of the Institute's effort to identify and promote best practices in all types of real estate development. This international competition is overseen by a jury composed of ULI members from around the world who are recognized leaders in their fields. Hysan Place is one of twelve winners selected from 27 finalists and many more original entries from all over the world. Of the twelve winners, jury chair M. Leanna Lachman said, "The 2013 ULI Global Award winners offer twelve remarkable projects that cover a broad geographic range, very diverse project typologies, and several models of development. And yet they all highlight a common thread: a committed contribution to a healthy living environment through responsible real estate development, and a dedication to building enduring communities."
