London - 12 June 2002 - elata, the UK-based innovative wireless mobile software specialist, has today announced an agreement with Hutchison 3G UK Ltd (Hutchison 3G). The contract will play an important part in the development of Hutchison 3G's next generation services. The platform will be deployed first in the UK and then made available in other countries where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G licences.

The elata senses platform will enable Hutchison 3G to intelligently target, personalise and deliver wireless Java applications (J2ME) to customers.

This agreement with Hutchison 3G positions elata as the market leader for Java delivery and download, as well as offering a migration path to support advanced levels of subscriber services management across the range of feature-rich devices." said Gavin Freed, CEO of elata.

2. About Hutchison 3G

3G is a convergence of media, information and telephony which offers people access to information and entertainment services on the move, as well as more flexible working practises. The 3G standard (agreed throughout Europe, Japan, China, and the rest of Asia) is formally known as UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System).
