Australia on a plate.... it's great
fantastic Australian Food Festival at Great Food Hall, Pacific Place

(Hong Kong, 4th June 2001) Now you can get some GREAT food from Australia! 'Great', in Pacific Place, is bringing Australia to Hong Kong with the launch of its Australian Food Festival. Beginning Friday 8th June for 3 weeks, 'Great' will introduce an extensive new range of Australian food delicacies to its already wide selection of the freshest and best quality foods in the world. Customers will also be enticed with an extensive range of activities to celebrate the Australian Food Festival, including food and wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, book signing, plus many more.

An entertaining evening has been planned to launch this exciting promotion. To begin with, Australian Consul General, Bill Twedell, will offer some of his famous Australian culinary tips with a cooking demonstration. In addition, John T. Bailey, Tasmania's leading Consultant Chef, will share some of his enormous knowledge in a demonstration on different types of Tasmanian salmon and cheese products.

Two of Australia's award-winning food writers and food producers have been invited to celebrate the food festival. Maggie Beer, Australia's prominent food writer and producer with numerous books to her name, including Maggie's Farm and Maggie's Orchard, will be at the launch event for the book-signing of her latest book and to introduce her new range of Australian gourmet foods exclusively available at 'Great'. Also presenting her new product range at 'Great', on June 23, will be Stephanie Alexander, best known for her famous Australian TV-series, 'A Shared Table' and award winning restaurant "Stephanie's" in Melbourne, Australia.

Keeping up its promise of arousing customers' passion for great food, 'Great' will introduce over 50 world famous producers including Maggie Beer, Stephanie Alexander - Richmond Hill, Jones the Grocer, Beechworth Preserves, Medlow, and many others, which are new to Hong Kong and introduce more than 500 new Australian products. New products include a variety of sauces, preserves and jams, flavoured honey, olives, oils, desserts, etc., such as, Verjuice, Seville Marmalade, Burnt Fig Jam, Quince Paste and Chocolate Seduction, Bowles Veal Glace.

Customers can also have a taste of specialties from down-under with an extraordinary range of new Australian dishes on the menu at the 'Great' food court, all prepared by Executive Chef Mark Hellbach. New dishes include grilled Tasmanian salmon on saffron couscous and lemon myrtle beurre blanc at the grill bar, and grilled roasted crocodile and chicken nuggets with angel hair pasta and pine nuts at the pasta bar. For the pizza lovers, the Piazza will be serving Aussie specialty pizzas and fine Australian wines at the Wine Bar.

During the weekends, customers can take in a lesson or two of fine Australian gourmet cooking, when Chef Hellbach offers cooking demonstrations of gourmet Australian recipes for Quail, Wallaby and Emu.

The Australian food promotion will surely provide customers with a great shopping and eating experience at the Great Food Hall this June. Not to be missed - Aussie fever is in the air!
