TOM.COM Scales New Heights in Website Traffic
Total Page Views Reach 47 million as Resource Integration Pays Off

Beijing, 10 January 2001 - TOM.COM LIMITED ('TOM.COM' or 'TOM', stock code 8001) today announced that the aggregated daily page views of TOM's web properties have reached a record 47 million, while the total number of registered users has passed 12.5 million. The announcement was made at a press conference held in Beijing today. TOM.COM also announced that China's authoritative Internet registrar CNNIC certified that CN TOM, TOM's Beijing portal, is recording an average of 22 million daily page views, with 1 million registered users. At 163.net, the free e-mail service provider recorded more than 11 million registered users with an average of 16 million daily page views, according to CNNIC.

"It is encouraging to see that TOM's Beijing portal has become so popular so soon after it opened in July last year. CNNIC's certification of our achievement is a testament to the outstanding efforts of all our staff," said Sing Wang, CEO and Executive Director of TOM.COM LIMITED, at the press conference.

At the press conference, TOM.COM also announced that the company has largely completed the integration of the operations of 163.net and shawei.com with TOM's portal operation, which is expected to generate significant benefits in marketing, technology development, business development and sales strategy. The enhanced operational cooperation will fully realise the synergy of the unified and strong online platform.

"The successful integration of these online resources augurs well for our entire business development strategy, which will eventually see the integration of all TOM's online and offline resources and turn our existing cross-media advantage into a powerful business platform and a strong revenue base," noted Sing Wang.

TOM.COM will further strengthen and diversify its information services to users, as the company continues the integration of its resources. "TOM.COM's integration with shawei.com has enriched our online sports content and strengthened the company's position as it seeks to further exploit the potentially huge Mainland sports information market. Moreover, TOM is injecting its various content and community services into 163.net, to fully exploit the advantages of an integrated platform, and to offer enhanced services to its many users," said Wang Lei Lei, General Manager of Beijing Super Channel Network Ltd., in charge of TOM.COM's China regional operations.

"163.net earned widespread praise after it joined forces with TOM.COM. Our e-mail service is now even better as from January 1, 2001. We have fully encompassed TOM.COM's sophisticated content and services, to the acclaim of our users. We will focus on providing users with the best e-mail communication services while maintaining our unique position as the premier brand of email service in China," said Jason Lee, Deputy General Manager of 163.net, at the press conference. Since the integration of TOM's resources, 163.net has expanded to serve the needs of TOM's users in the Guangzhou area, which, like the Beijing and Hong Kong portals, provides extensive original information and services to users.
