Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited

3 Hong Kong completes 4.5G network deployment
for local section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge
and launches plans to enable data entitlements
to be shared throughout mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau

Hong Kong, 20 July 2018 – 3 Hong Kong, the mobile communications division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH, stock code: 215), is the first operator to announce completion of a network to serve the local section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB). The company's 4.5G network covers the deck of the bridge and surrounding facilities, and will be ready to provide high-speed mobile service as soon as the bridge opens to traffic.

3 Hong Kong also announced launch of new and enhanced local tariff plans that allow customers to share their data entitlements throughout Hong Kong, mainland China and Macau with the same freedom and functionality as if they were on home ground. Consumer, corporate and tourist customers alike can enjoy seamless mobile connectivity throughout the three geographies.

HTHKH Executive Director and CEO Cliff Woo said: "It is imperative mobile network facilities are ready for service when the HZMB opens. 3 Hong Kong has therefore worked tirelessly to build base stations on the deck of the bridge, as well as throughout tunnels and buildings. In fact, network trials were completed mid-July."

He added: "When open, the HZMB will stimulate movement of people and logistics between mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, thereby increasing demand for data, so we have tailored innovative plans to suit differing customer needs. By collaborating with 3Macau and mainland operators, we will enable consumer and corporate customers to share data entitlements in and between the three geographies with flexibility, and enjoy seamless connectivity."

Completion of mobile base station construction and 4.5G network trials
3 Hong Kong began construction of the bridge's network infrastructure earlier this year, establishing base stations in the Hong Kong section. This work included the Hong Kong Link Road, as well as facilities on the artificial island such as the Passenger Clearance Building, Xray inspection facilities, Immigration Department and Customs and Excise Department clearance counters and various retail outlets. The first and last base stations went live in March and July this year respectively. Telecoms projects were completed mid-July, and data and voice services have passed 4.5G network tests. Service will be available as soon as the bridge opens, ready to meet the needs of commuters in and between the three territories.

Integration of mobile data for mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to coincide with launch of new bridge
Volume of traffic in travellers and goods is likely to surge when the HZMB opens. This has prompted 3 Hong Kong to launch new data tariff plans and offers relevant to mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. They have been designed to enable consumer customers, users of multiple devices, travellers and SME personnel to enjoy data connectivity seamlessly whether in mainland China, Macau or Hong Kong.

*1. Commuters: New Greater China Plan enables data entitlements to be shared throughout four geographies1
The Greater China Plan offers data entitlement of 4GB, 8GB and 12GB for a monthly fee of HK$188, HK$238 and HK$328 respectively, so users can enjoy 4G service in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The plan is tailored to suit frequent travellers to the four territories for work or leisure. Customers subscribing to this plan before 31 August 2018 are entitled to extra monthly data entitlement of 1GB during the contact period.

The plan can be used for mobile hotspot sharing and allows access to various social media platforms in the four territories. Users can enjoy 12 months' free data for WhatsApp, WeChat and LINE. The plan also offers unlimited local voice minutes, while voice calls in mainland China and Macau will cost just HK$0.65 per minute.

*2. Travellers: Value-for-money Fun Sharing Data Plan offers an extra 1G of data2
This allows users to enjoy local 4.5G service, plus an extra 2GB of data entitlement, every month in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. It also includes 12 months' free use of WhatsApp and WeChat data. Users will enjoy considerable convenience when communicating, because they won't need to switch between SIM cards.

Before 31 August, customers porting their mobile numbers to 3 Hong Kong and choosing this tariff plan3 will enjoy extra data entitlement of 1G during the contract period, in addition to the above-mentioned 2G of extra data per month. This means users can enjoy a total of 3GB extra data every month. Those subscribing to certain 4.5G multi-SIM plans can get up to 5GB of extra data every month during the contract period. Select existing 3 customers upgrading to the plan are also entitled to this special offer.

*3. Innovative Multi-SIM Plan for SMEs and customers with multiple devices
3 Hong Kong has enhanced the Multi-SIM Plan by adding local data, along with 20GB of data entitlement to be used in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. This will be especially useful to SMEs and users with multiple devices. Customers can also enjoy unlimited WhatsApp and WeChat data in the three geographies during the first 12 months of the contract period. Top-up data for the plan can be shared throughout the three territories for as little as HK$38 for 200MB.

4. Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau Data Pack – to launch on 31 July – breaks away from the convention of monthly data settlement for certain of 3 Hong Kong's existing 4G customers
This plan will soon be offered to certain of 3 Hong Kong's existing 4G customers for HK$168, complete with 3GB of cross-month data entitlement. Any residual monthly data in the pack can be carried over for three months.

Scheduled for launch on 31 July, the plan departs from the convention of monthly data settlement and allows users to enjoy WhatsApp, FaceBook and Instagram in hassle-free fashion. The pack is suitable for customers who do not subscribe to a service plan, but make frequent trips between mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.

5. Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau Roaming Mobile Data Prepaid SIM offers 2GB of shared data entitlement for just HK$98
Those traveling frequently between the three territories can purchase the above-mentioned prepaid SIM for HK$98 (with 2GB of shared data) in order to stay connected with family and friends throughout the three territories.

6. Mainland China Number Service4 launches today
3 Hong Kong today launched the Mainland China Number Service to address the needs of those journeying frequently to mainland China, or making frequent use of online shopping and mobile banking facilities. Customers can receive unlimited SMS sent to a mainland China number covered by subscription without having to change SIM card or download applications. Receiving calls to a mainland China-based number in Hong Kong will count as a local call and be deducted from a local monthly plan's entitlement.

Subscribers signing up to a 24-month service contract – available for a monthly fee of HK$19 – will enjoy two months' waiver of service fee. This means the average monthly fee will amount to HK$17.4 – offering better value-for-money than if buying a SIM card in mainland China.
