Hong Kong, 9 January 2018-3 Hong Kong today became the first local mobile operator to grant customers the convenience of settling phone bills or making other payments at any 3Shop using the safe and secure AlipayHK eWallet.
From 8 January to 31 March, 3 Hong Kong users downloading the AlipayHK app and registering for the service can get three rewards worth up to HK$429*. They are:
Cliff Woo, Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited's Executive Director and CEO, said: "Mobile payment has become a hot global trend, and 3 Hong Kong is keen to promote fintech applications and services. We are therefore delighted to become the first local operator to collaborate with AlipayHK in order to provide users with a secure, simple and convenient mobile payment method."
He added: "A variety of offers will be launched from time to time to reward our users. And 3 Hong Kong will now work closely with AlipayHK to ensure our customers enjoy the everyday hassle-free convenience of paying with a mobile phone."
Jennifer Tan, CEO of the joint venture between CK Hutchison and Ant Financial that offers AlipayHK said: "AlipayHK has been building a merchant base since our launch in May 2017. We aim to cover a broader range of local retailers to create even greater convenience for our users - thereby making AlipayHK Hong Kong's eWallet-of-choice. In addition, we have been expanding our service to provide an in-App online bill payment facility by collaborating with more partners."
She added: "AlipayHK users can already settle Hong Kong Electric bills - and teaming up with 3 Hong Kong now enables us to extend our service to mobile bill payment. We will continue to seek opportunities for collaboration, so even more Hong Kong users can benefit from the secure and convenient service we deliver."
CK Hutchison and Ant Financial first announced their strategic partnership in September 2017. Formation of the joint venture is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2018.

*HK$429 is the sum of a HK$50 welcome offer and HK$25 eStamp offer, plus the value of 3 Hong Kong's local mobile data top-up entitlement (lowest price for 1GB is HK$59 depending on the plan a user subscribes to).
