FIRST PACIFIC WINS FIVE INTERNATIONAL AWARDS FOR 1996 ANNUAL REPORT

First Pacific Company Limited announced today that its 1996 Annual Report has received five prizes at the 11th annual International ARC Awards competition in New York, which is known as the Academy Awards of Annual Reports.

The competition, the largest such event in the world for annual reports, received more than 1,000 entries, including 14 in the "conglomerates" sector in which First Pacific was judged.

First Pacific's Annual Report received a gold prize in the Interior Design category, silver prizes for Written Text, Financial Data and Photography, and a bronze for Overall Annual Report. In addition, a bronze prize was awarded for the Company's 1996 Interim Report.

The company's Annual Report has also been nominated by the International ARC Awards' panel of judges to compete in the Best of Show judging in the categories of Interior Design and Best Overall Report. The result will be announced on 17th July in New York.

Mr Robert Sherbin, First Pacific's Vice President for Corporate Communications, said: "First Pacific is very proud of these awards. We consider our Annual Report to be our prime investor relations and marketing tool and it is gratifying to see it recognized as being of international caliber. These awards underscore the fact that Hong Kong companies can stand proudly among leading companies the world over."

He also thanked The Bridge Design Company and photographer Leong Ka Tai, both of Hong Kong, for their contributions to the Report.
