FIRST PACIFIC APPOINTS FOUR GROUP VICE PRESIDENTS

First Pacific Company has appointed four new Group Vice Presidents with responsibilities in the areas of corporate communications, information technology, tax and treasury.

Manuel V. Pangilinan, First Pacific's Managing Director, said: "These new appointments at our Hong Kong headquarters, which include the newly created post of Group Vice President for Information Technology, will help provide support to First Pacific's rapidly growing businesses. These individuals, working with our management team both here and abroad, will play an important role in guiding the Company and its affiliates through the exciting period ahead of us."

David Eastlake, 33, has been appointed Group Vice President - Treasury, replacing Grant Ferguson who has transferred to the finance staff of the Group's Indonesian telecoms business. David previously worked for Price Waterhouse for 11 years in London and Hong Kong, and spent the last four years as Senior Manager - Audit and Business Services in Hong Kong. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Exeter, and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accounts in England and Wales and the Hong Kong Society of Accountants.

Darryl Kinneally, 33, has been appointed Group Vice President - Tax, replacing Peter Lawrence who has become Chief Financial Officer of Asia Link, the Group's telecoms division. Darryl previously worked at Arthur Andersen for the past 11 years in Brisbane, Sydney and Tokyo, and received an undergraduate degree from the University of Queensland. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accounts in Australia, a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and a Council Member of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong.

Robert Sherbin, 39, has been appointed Group Vice President - Corporate Communications, succeeding Derek Murphy who has retired after seven years at First Pacific. Robert previously worked at The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited for four years as Senior External Relations Manager and prior to that served as a journalist based in Washington, New York, Stockholm and Hong Kong. He has an undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College and a master's degree from Northwestern University.

Giorgio Sorani, 54, has been appointed to the new post of Group Vice President - Information Technology. Previously employed as an independent consultant in San Francisco, he has more than 20 years of experience managing IT systems at major US companies such as DFS Group Limited, The Lubrizol Corporation, Baxter International and FMC Corporation. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Rome and master's degrees from the University of Illinois and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
