(18 December 2023 - Hong Kong) Far East Consortium International Limited ("FEC", together with its subsidiaries, the"Group"; Stock Code: 35.HK), was awarded the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Excellence Award 2023 at the "Hong Kong Corporate Governance and ESG Excellence Awards 2023" conferred by the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies and the Centre for Corporate Governance and Financial Policy, Hong Kong Baptist University.
Over the years, FEC has consistently advocated for environmental protection and sustainable development, actively participating in various ESG initiatives. Specifically, through green finance practices, the Group has promoted energy conservation and emissions reduction in our hotel properties, contributing to the long-term development of the business. The Group's commitment to ESG is further demonstrated through comprehensive assessments of greenhouse gas emissions by independent third-party consultants, providing crucial data for future strategic planning. FEC places a strong emphasis on safeguarding employee rights, establishing multiple communication channels for expressing opinions and suggestions. Additionally, the group has donated HK$ 1.5 million and provided a 40,000 sq. ft. farmland to the Technological and Higher Education Institution of Hong Kong (THEi) to build a Chinese medicinal research centre, promoting the modernized use of Chinese medicine for cultural preservation.
The "Hong Kong Corporate Governance and ESG Excellence Awards," formerly known as the "Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards," has been held since 2007, aiming to encourage listed companies to strengthen corporate and ESG governance. It recognizes companies that excel in upholding shareholder rights, compliance, integrity, fairness, responsibility, accountability, transparency, board independence, leadership, and ESG implementation.
Ms. Winnie Chiu, JP, Executive Director and Chair of the ESG Steering Committee of FEC, extended her heartfelt appreciation to her dedicated colleagues for their unwavering efforts that have led to the well-deserved recognition of the Hong Kong Corporate Governance and ESG Excellence 2023's 'ESG Excellence Award'.
