Peter C. Farrell PhD DSc FTSE FIE Aust FAIM FAICD - President and Chairman

Peter C. Farrell is the Founder of the company and has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ResMed (previously ResCare) since 1989. He was previously Vice President, R&D with Baxter Healthcare (1984-89) and Foundation Director of UNSW's Centre for Biomedical Engineering where he remains a Visiting Professor. He has over 20 years consulting and executive experience in the medical device industry. He is a Fellow of several professional bodies including the Australian Institutes of Management and Company Directors. Dr Farrell was also a member of the Board and Audit Committee of F H Faulding & Co Ltd, Australia's largest international health care company, from 1992 until 1996 when he resigned to relocate to the USA. In 1994 the Institution of Engineers awarded Dr Farrell the honour of National Professional Engineer of the Year. He is a graduate of the University of Sydney, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Washington and the University of New South Wales.


Christopher A. Bartlett MBA DBA - Director

Christopher A. Bartlett is currently Daewoo Professor of Business Administration and Chair, Program for Global Leadership, at Harvard Business School. Professor Bartlett has both masters and doctorate degrees in business administration from Harvard University (1971 and 1979). Prior to joining the faculty of Harvard Business School, he was a marketing manager with Alcoa in Australia, a management consultant in McKinsey and Company's London office, and general manager at Baxter Laboratories' subsidiary company in France. He is also a graduate of the University of Queensland.


Donagh McCarthy BE(Hon) MBA - Director

Donagh McCarthy has been President, North America Renal Division, Baxter International, since 1993, responsible for sales, marketing and manufacture in the US and Canada. He has held various marketing positions in FMC Corporation, as well as a number of positions within the marketing department of the Baxter organisation, which he joined in 1982 as International Marketing Manager. He is an engineering graduate of the National University of Ireland, and holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania.


Gary W. Pace PhD FTS - Director

Gary W. Pace is currently President of Research Triangle Pharmaceuticals. Prior to that appointment he was President and Founder of Free Radical Sciences in Boston since 1993 and before that was a Senior Vice President with Clintec Int (a joint venture between Baxter Healthcare and Nestle) in Chicago from 1989 to 1993. He has held senior executive positions in general management and production with both medical device and biotechnology companies in England and Australia. He is a graduate of the University of New South Wales and holds a doctorate in food technology and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Michael Quinn BSc BEc MBA - Director

Michael Quinn is a strategic and financial management consultant. He has had over 20 years experience in the medical, scientific and finance industries; most recently he was Executive Chairman of Phoenix Scientific Industries. He has also been Managing Director and Company Secretary of Memtec Ltd (1983-88). He remains a non-executive Director of Memtec and is also a Director of the NSW Entrepreneurship Centre Ltd. He is a graduate of the University of Western Australia and the Harvard Business School.


Christopher Roberts BE PhD MBA - Non-Executive Director

Christopher Roberts joined the company in August, 1992. Previously he had had 17 years experience as an international health care executive, primarily with the Nucleus Group of companies. He has previously been CEO of BGS Medical, Inc, Denver, a manufacturer and marketer of implantable electronic devices for bone growth stimulation, and Domedica Pty Ltd in Sydney (artificial kidney products). He was most recently Vice President with Telectronics (pacemakers and implantable defibrillators). He is a graduate of the University of New South Wales and Macquarie University.

David Pendarvis - Company Secretary

David Pendarvis has been Vice President, Global General Counsel since September 2002 and Corporate Secretary from February 2003. From September 2000 until September 2002 Mr. Pendarvis was a partner in the law firm of Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich LLP where he specialized in intellectual property and general business litigation. Until September 2000 he was a partner with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he began working in 1986. From 1984 until 1986 he was a law clerk to the Hon. J Lawrence Irving, US District Judge, Southern District of California. Mr. Pendarvis holds a BA from Rice University and JD cum laude from the University of Texas School of Law.


Adrian Smith - Chief Financial Officer

Adrian Smith has been Chief Financial Officer since February 1995. From January 1986 through January 1995, Mr. Smith was employed by Price Waterhouse, specializing in the auditing of listed public companies in the medical and scientific field. Mr. Smith holds a B.Ec. from Macquarie University and is a Certified Chartered Accountant.
