History
Pharmaxis was founded more than ten years ago on an important Australian research discovery. Today, Pharmaxis is working to bring innovative medicines to millions of people worldwide, touching and improving their lives as it does so.

Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2003, Pharmaxis is a specialty pharmaceutical company involved in the research, development and commercialisation of new therapies for under-treated respiratory diseases.

Therapeutic Interests
Our therapeutic interests include lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis and asthma; as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases such as chronic bronchitis and pulmonary fibrosis.

Our lead product and product candidates are for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic respiratory diseases, including asthma, cystic fibrosis and COPD, including bronchiectasis and chronic bronchitis and other chronic and acute pulmonary conditions.

Products
The company's first product, Aridol, is designed to identify twitchy or hyper-responsive airways and to assist in diagnosing and managing asthma. Aridol is approved for sale in Australia, major European countries and Korea. In October 2010 Aridol was approved for marketing by the United States Food and Drug Administration.

The second product, Bronchitol is designed to restore normal lung hydration, improve lung function and to help relieve the mucus burden in the lungs of patients suffering from chronic respiratory conditions. Bronchitol has completed the first regulatory Phase 3 clinical trials in both cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis.

Headquarters
Headquartered in Sydney at its manufacturing facilities, Pharmaxis has grown to become one of Australia's largest life sciences companies, with offices in four continents.

In February 2010 Pharmaxis completed the acquisition of Canadian biopharmaceutical company Topigen Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Manufacturing
In 2009 Pharmaxis opened the company's state of the art 7,200 square metre, purpose built office and production facility in Frenchs Forest, Sydney. The facility serves as the company's Head Office and houses commercial and administrative staff, manufacturing, warehousing and research.

The company operates a TGA licensed facility

Intellectual Property
Pharmaxis patent the technology, inventions and improvements that we consider important to the development of our business. As of 31 July 2009, we owned or had exclusive rights to 20 issued U.S. and foreign patents and 14 pending U.S. and foreign patent applications. If available to us, we intend to seek patent term extension for our eligible patents.

Employees
Pharmaxis' main office facility is at Frenchs Forest, Sydney and houses more than 100 employees across administration, marketing, commercialization, research and manufacturing. Pharmaxis also have offices in the United Kingdom, Asia and the North America.
