Mongolia Energy Corporation (MEC) is an energy and resources developer in the independent nation of Mongolia and its vicinity, Xinjiang of China. In 600 of 330,000 hectares of MEC's exploration and mining concessions in western Mongolia, MEC to date has explored and demonstrated 150 million tonnes of JORC compliant coking coal resources and is planning mine development of an initial 3 million tonnes per annum of coking coal in Khushuut to satisfy established steel mill demands at Xinjiang. MEC also has interests in various oil and gas projects in Mongolia, a Xinjiang resources corporation (establishing joint ventures with two Chinese geological bureaus affiliates with over 2 billion tonnes of coal resources) and a tungsten and tin resources project in Xinjiang (scheduled for mid-2009 completion).
